Here at the Club we realized that teens wanted a place to call their own. A place they could be with their friends and do what they wanted to do. Our Teen Center provides our youth with a safe and friendly environment where they can learn, hang out, play and just BE! Listed to the right on this page are the many programs that The Boys & Girls Clubs of Fullerton promotes for our teens. Please take a moment to find out more about all the great activities that Fullerton's teens are involved in.

While adolescence can be a difficult time for all youth, boys are more likely to commit violent crime, get into trouble in school and join gangs during this critical period in their development. Even in optimal conditions, this time can often be a confusing and perilous one as boys struggle with mixed messages about what it means to be a man. In many of our communities, the journey is made even more difficult as boys struggle with competing forces without the support of personal male mentors and/or role models. Passport to Manhood represents a targeted effort to engage adolescent boys in interactive discussions and activities that reinforce positive behavior. The leader in training program is designed to provide teens aged 13-18 with job acquisition and retention skills, leadership development and a positive alternative to the streets. The curriculum features a professional skills workshop, facts and discussions of relevant teen issues, interpersonal skill development including conflict resolution and peer pressure resistance, and valuable workplace experience. Rewarded for their hard work with prizes and field trips, this program is well liked by the teens. The general purpose of Keystone is to create and maintain high standards of health, education, character and citizenship in order for teens to develop into responsible, productive adults. Keystone offers teens many opportunities to develop and use leadership skills and contribute to the community through service and volunteerism. Keystone is also set up to foster an understanding and respect between groups and individuals. Teens also learn life skills and information for living a responsible, fulfilled life and to enjoy fellowship and develop self-confidence. Our teens in Keystone understand and participate in our free enterprise system through fundraising activities with local and national Boys & Girls Club programs. Project Safe is a before and after school youth development program. This 18-week program is designed for opportunity students, those in alternative high school, to re enroll into comprehensive high school. Project Safe serves teens at the five traditional high schools and two continuation high schools in our district. The district serves youths of Fullerton, Buena Park and La Habra. Project Safe's success can be attributed to the multilateral effort put forth by the many organizations involved. Founded by the Boys & Girls Club of Fullerton in 1992, the program focuses on helping at-risk youth overcome their social and academic challenges, and to suppress potential gang activity. More simply stated, Project Safe gets at-risk youth off the streets and back on the path to success. This program that is unique to our district has been acknowledged by government officials as being an ideal program that should be implemented statewide. The Fine Arts programs at the Teen Center offers the teens opportunities to express themselves through a variety of channels. For those looking to channel their creativity on the stage, our Teen Center offers both a Theater and Dance program. Our Theater program allows our teens to develop improvisational skills, write plays, and build self confidence through live performances. The Dance program engages our teens in traditional disciplines of dance such as ballet, jazz, contemporary and hip hop and also allows our teens the chance to perform for the community. In addition, the Teen Center offers Culinary Arts classes which teach the teens how to cook and develop their own healthy recipes. For those interested in working with animation, our Teen Center offers an Animation Program which teaches the teens how to create their own video games. The Teen Center’s Music Program offers teens the opportunity to explore the world of DJing. The teens learn how to use turntables, mix their own music, and gain insight into the music industry as a career. Our teens are given many opportunities to use the skills they learn through our Music Program by djing at Club and community events. The Teen Center understands the importance of our teens to be consistently active. We offer physical activities ranging from daily recreation to traditional sports leagues. In our collaboration with local health systems we engage our teens in physical fitness exercises aimed at improving their overall health. During the school year we offer Volleyball and Flag Football Leagues in the fall, Soccer and Basketball Leagues in the winter, and R.B.I. (our baseball and softball leagues) in the spring. As for the summer we shorten our Volleyball, Soccer, Flag Football, and Basketball Leagues, running them for five weeks each to keep our teens engaged in a variety of sports during long summer days.
